Why take probiotics? Discover the benefits of probiotics.

Ever heard the term friendly bacteria and bad bacteria?

Our stomach is full of thousands of different species of bacteria. To have optimum health we need to make sure that we have a good balance between the two. If you have taken antibiotics or other drugs, had bad food choices, been under emotional stress, had lack of sleep, or shifts in environmental influences in the past, over time these things can destroy the friendly bacteria in your stomach. So it is important to bring back the balance. If not it can lead to problems later on.

When we have a healthy digestive system the stomach can filter out and eliminate anything that may damage it. So things such as harmful bacteria, toxins and chemicals will be pushed to the kerb. However if you don’t have that balance right then you will have trouble with digestion which can be shown in a number of different ways in your body, from skin problems through to allergies, allergic reactions, autoimmune disorders, infections, dandruff, itchy skin, diarrhea, skin infections, candida growth, the list goes on.

There is one thing to remember at this point. What you eat, how you look, how you feel and how you move is a direct result of what you put in your stomach. So your stomach is your filter. Probiotics help your stomach be the best filter that it can be. If is has been damaged along the way, sometimes we just need to help it get back to optimum function. This is what probiotics do. Our immune system can benefit anytime, it can be fixed whenever you are ready to restore that balance,  so it’s never too late.

One thing to know that in most cases if you have got a bad balance between the two, then diet alone is unlikely to bring the levels back. So sometimes we need a little help from our friends. Those friends are friendly bacteria and this is why you should take probiotics as a supplement.

Probiotic Names Breakdown

The most common bacteria names you will see thrown around are lactobacillus bacteria which is present in acidophilus. It is beneficial and is what you will find in your supermarket, especially in yoghurt products. Other strains of bacteria that are common is bifidobacterium and there are some products out there containing this along with millions of other bacteria.

What sort to buy?

Hope this information helps you understand the importance of probiotics. I spent years avoiding taking them because I just didn’t know what sort, hadn’t researched it enough and I had tried a few in the past and they didn’t work.  I have now found one that is great and I highly recommend it.
