Chocolate - Glorious Chocolate! Lose weight and eat chocolate!
Chocolate and coffee are my weakness. I can't do without them and I love them. Give me a menu with gluten free chocolate anything on the desert page and I am into it!! Admittedly this doesn't happen often, so I guess its okay. Maybe I need to throw a few more hints out there to go out for dinner.
Here is what I think about chocolate...
Carbohydrates - Why do we need them, and what exactly are they.
Diets are everywhere saying avoid carbohydrates, only eat carbohydrates before bed, only eat carbohydrates before 5......how can you know when to eat them and what sort. Well, guess what......you need to eat carbohydrates, they can help you to burn body fat, and help maintain energy and brain function. Your body needs carbohydrates to stay functioning to its full potential, I mean after all that is what its all about isn't it? Being forever fit, healthy, happy and functioning to the best of our capabilities.
Not all carbohydrates are created equal though.
I love coffee, I love the smell of it, I love the taste of it, I love the thought of it and I love what it does to me when I drink it....And I love it when a non coffee drinker (aka my partner) sips on my coffee and says "Yuk! Yuk! Yuk! How can you drink that?"
Coffee has got a bad name because it gets abused by people over consuming it, and it gets abused by companies tampering with its natural state. Coffee in its purest source can do wonders for your health, and there is science out there to back it, not just my healthy addiction to it.
There are so many conflicting messages out there about coffee. Here is what I know and here is why I drink it. You can then decide and I'd love to hear your thoughts, so comment below.
Coffee is addictive - soooo I can think of alot of worse things to be addicted to, humans are creatures of habit, so is it addiction/habit or routine??
Flag the diets, flag the scales, flag the measuring tapes. Food and diet is all about fueling the body for energy. So if you body doesn't know how to process something it is going to slow it down, its going to get grumpy, lathargic and start to scream. Your body is one of the most intelligent and valuable things you will ever own so you want to look after it.
What does the term clean eating mean?
Well make life easy for your body, if it wasn't around thousands of years ago, chances are your body has no idea how to break it down and use it for energy.
So life is conflicting, you read something and it says avoid alcohol, I even wrote that in my sleep section, and yes I do agree to some degree because when I drink white wine, or more than 2 glasses of wine I have the worst sleep and wake up with hot flushes and I can wake up being sooooo hung over from just one small glass or even sip of white wine.
Something else I have discovered is that whenever I drink white wine and some other form of alcohol (other than red) that effects my sleep, the next day not only do I feel like I am hung over, but I also feel low and sluggish, and very unmotivated. However all this changes when I drink a small glass of red wine? Go figure.
Nuts and Seeds – So these guys are pretty good for you right?
Yes totally, as long as they aren’t roasted, or salted. So raw natural nuts. Problem is every one eats them roasted with a whole lot of table salt on them. When a nut is roasted the oils have been heated to a temperature that they cannot handle, certain oils can be heated to different temperatures. As soon as a nut is heated to above 80 degrees the oils begin to go rancid and loose all the benefits. So instead of having antioxidants the oils in the nuts are more likely to age you then help you stay young.
Is Salt good for you? Discover The Benefits of Salt!
The problem with salt is that it has a bad name because of all the packaged food and processed meals that we eat. This salt is bad for you! Too much of this type of salt which includes table salt, has got a bad name for a reason. Research has also suggested that standard table salt contains 1/3 sand, 1/3 glass and 1/3 salt...
Hydration is crucial to your health and well being, but what you are drinking is even more crucial. Bisphenol A also known as BPA is a man made chemical that is present in plastic food and drinking containers. It is classified as a endocrine disruptor, which alters the function of the endocrine system by mimicking the role of the bodies natural hormones. The chemical can leach in into the contents of the container when the container is heated and stored where temperatures may rise above room temperature.
So I thought I would just write a quick wee post explaining what I am doing....

So remembering to drink water throughout your day is hard work. We all find it hard to keep up the fluids, but know how good we do feel when we do.
Here are a few tips to drinking water
In the morning drink 2 glasses of water before eating.
Drink most of your water in between your meals, and just drink a glass with dinner to help wash down your meals, not drown them.
Drink 2 glasses of water before exercise, that tired heavy leg feeling you get before going to the gym….feel the difference when you drink water first.
