Feijoa Smoothie

When you run out of your favourite berries for your smoothie it calls for some creative smoothie making.

INGREDIENTS

2 fresh feijoas 1/4 teaspoon spirulina 1/4 cup coconut cream/milk or other nut milk 1/4 cup soaked chia seeds 1 T pumpkin seeds ( preferably soaked 8 hours) 3 brazil nuts (preferably soaked 8 hours) handful of spinach leaves 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Optional - 2 scoops of your favourite protein powder. Today I used pea protein.
SERVES: 1

Luckily for me I have got some fabulous feijoas out in the garden so they were my inspiration for todays feijoa smoothie recipe.  I don’t consume alot of fruit, and the fruit I do eat is always as if I was eating it whole. So inside this smoothie is just 2 small feijoas. Where people go wrong with smoothies is they put far to much fruit into them and don’t stabilize that out with good quality fats and protein. Every meal you have should fuel you and provide you with constant energy. If you have to much sugar you will spike blood sugar levels, crash and hour or two later be craving sugar. Combat this by keeping fruit intake to as if you are eating whole fruit, and balance that out with good quality fats and proteins.

Another cool trick add cinnamon to your smoothies this is fantastic  for stabilizing blood sugar levels and preventing cravings, also makes this taste even better.  This smoothie isn’t sweet, but it is delicious, if you are used to sweet drinks and you really need more of a sweet smoothie, replace 1 feijoa for 1/2 banana.

Instructions
