Readable Resources #1 – Autoimmune Disease and Digestive Problems

Welcome to this first post about readable resources. Basically I wanted to share with you sites I love, books I’ve read and posts I think you will find interesting. I am constantly reading and learning new information, so I wanted to start to share with you sites I trust for information. I will try and do this as often as I can, especially because there is always new information out there, so I want you to stay up with the play as much as I am. Also if at any time you find sites that you feel are valuable and worth a read, let me know and I can share with everyone via this Readable resources page.

I want to start with how and why I discovered these sites and what they have done for me. As you know I am a personal trainer, and I have dabbled in many diets, trained in many different ways and gone off on plenty of different paths, with many of them not being the best for me.

With everything that I do, what I learn is about me becoming an expert on me! This is what I want you to do. Be an expert on yourself. I can’t tell you what your body needs and what is going to work for you, all I can do is share with you what I have learnt and discovered and what I know to be true for myself. Once you become an expert on yourself you can then begin to listen to your body and start to find the food that works for you.

Approximately 6 months ago, the same time I turned 30 and the same time I launched this site, I was on a mission to get in the best shape of my life. I have always exercised and eaten what I believe to be healthy foods. However my body was telling me otherwise. I had a rash on my face called perioal dermititis which is a symptom of an autoimmune condition. Basically by body was screaming that things weren’t right.

It was something I had 4 years ago, and you can read my posts I did on these under skin health 1 and skin health 2. Sometimes something needs to push you over the line to help you become a real expert on yourself. This rash on my face was it. It’s not exactly the best look thats for sure. Read my post here on why I eat a paleo diet.

Anyway I googled and went to doctors and researched to death everything I could find. What it all came down to was that my immune system was blown out! There was plenty of advice out there, but these two blog posts are what turned the corner for me. Hope you enjoy and find them useful.
