Rocket Fuel Breakfast Smoothie

I am a huge fan of smoothies, but only for the fact that you can throw massive amounts of vegetables into them and load up on your greens. When I talk about green smoothies, I don’t mean fruit smoothies with a sprinkle of green. I mean a total vegetable mash up with as much vegetables as you can stuff into your blender, with a touch of fruit if you wish. This green smoothie is something that I have every day and it is the complete game changer when it comes to health and vitality. When I miss this smoothie each day, I feel flat and I crave the vegetable kick it gives me.

INGREDIENTS

1/2 cucumber 2 stalks celery 1/2 avocado Banana/green apple 3-4 cups blanched kale/spinach Juice from a lemon 1 tablespoon chia seeds 1 tablespoon flaxseeds 4 soaked brazil nuts 2 big scoops greens powder I use this one Optional - Maca powder
SERVES: 1

Everyone discusses whether or not they should juice or do smoothies and for me I simply love green smoothies, but the thing to understand is these are serious smoothies. These aren’t smoothies that are loaded with sugar. These are nutrient dense, fibre packed vegetable loaded real green smoothies. If you are looking for a way to fuel your body with more energy and vitality and wanted to get serious about what you are putting into your body, start with green smoothies. Real green smoothies 😉

This recipe makes about 4 large glasses, the blender is jam packed and over flowing. I make this amount, so both Ben and I have a glass as soon as I make it in the afternoon, then the rest goes in a jar for the morning. Then we both have another glass for breakfast. I find it hard to make this smoothie first thing, so making it the afternoon seems to mean it happens for me and so in the morning its ready for me right away. Smoothies are always best fresh but 12 hours in the fridge is also going to be great to, and if it means I get more vegetables in, im all for it 🙂

I always make sure I blanch my kale and spinach also, I do this by either popping them on the stove and bringing to a boil, or covering with some boiling water and letting it sit for 2-3 minutes. I am one of those people who get quite badly effected by the oxalates in raw kale, so the blanching removes the majority of it, meaning I can get all the powerful nutrients kale has to offer.

Instructions
Jam it all into the blender, top up with water and blitz up until smooth. If you’re planning to buy a new blender, you should visit juicyblenders.com to find the best ones in the market.
